Iosif Matyas 1930-2002

He graduated „Institutul de Arte Plastice Ion Andreescu” from Cluj-Napoca in 1956, where he studied with Zoltan Andrassy and Béla Nagy Abodi. Debuted in 1957 at the Graphic Saloon. Solo shows in 1959 at Baia Mare, in 1967 in Bucharest and in 1973 at Deva.

Awarded with First Prize for Engraving, from UAP in 1958.

Iosif Matyas was representing Romania at Venice Biennale in 1960 in a group exhibition including: Paintings by George Petrașcu.
