Born in Constanța in 1922 Paul Atanasiu graduated the highschool in Cernauti. He studied painting with Camil Ressu and Constanin Artachino. His work has been recognized and rewarded over time. In 1952 Paul Atanasiu was rewarded with the State Prize.
Paul Atanasiu was representing Romania at Venice Biennale in 1954 in a group exhibition. His work is several collections including The National Museum of Art of Romania, The National Military Museum, Arad Museum Complex, Braila Art Museum, Ploiesti History Museum, Focșani History Museum, Buzău History Museum etc.
